The Women in Academia Project was created by Kaya Dorogi, a high school senior from Massachusetts. Going to study Computer Science at Columbia University next year, she felt inspired to honor the successes of female professors in a year long project spanning her last year of high school. Intended to be a public exhibit before COVID-19, her work now takes the form of a website. This project is dedicated to Mariana Hentea, Kaya’s grandmother who is a professor of Data Science and a published author, and Mary Székely, the fourth founder of Progress Software and a trailblazer for women in STEM.
Besides being the creator of the Women in Academia Project, Kaya is the founder of a jewelry company that she started with her sister (lighthousejewels.com).
