Professor Tiffany Butler, PhD, ATC is a professor in the Biomedical Engineering department at the Worcester Polytechnic Institute in Worcester, MA. After receiving her masters and doctoral degrees in Kinesiology (Athletic Training, Integrative Exercise Physiology) with a research focus on bone and bone biomechanics at Temple University, she came to WPI to combine her love for education and passion for exercise science. At WPI, Professor Butler also serves as the Director of Multicultural Affairs and is motivated in mentoring people groups who

are under-represented in the STEM fields.

Professor Butler first became interested in kinesiology after enduring an ACL injury in high school where she was unable to get physical therapy to rehabilitate her knee, and she always excelled in math and science classes while growing up. Speaking about her ACL injury, she reflected that it was the obstacles she had to overcome that made her who she is today and helped her prepare to overcome future obstacles with resilience. Professor Butler said, “Struggle breeds success,” and she further emphasized how never giving up has contributed to her success today at WPI.
